Everyone should live and work where it is safe and secure
Community Safety Watch Challenges
Today many residential and business communities spend their lives living and working in fear of crime and antisocial disorder, but reside in remote locations which are unable to benefit from town centre CCTV. Every year local authorities can spend as much as €1/2M or even more responding to these Community Safety Watch types of incident, as the Gardai regularly visit these communities once, and sometimes even twice a day.
Community Safety Watch Partnership solution
Viseum introduces the most powerful community safety watch partnership, where a completely automated Intelligent camera called a Viseum Intelligent Moving Camera or Viseum IMC, is shared amongst communities and local authorities, to finally rid their homes and businesses of their security threats. This solution can have the following positive effects on a community:
- Fear of crime and antisocial disorder gone
- Businesses and lifestyles regenerated
- Community spirit restored
This community safety watch camera’s automated day-to-day operation and its ease of use when clearing up an incident, makes it the most practical and effective security weapon against crime and anti-social related disorder.

Community Safety Watch example of success
Typical public space areas where this service is most beneficial is where the local authority, working with and on behalf of the community, would have previously exhausted several years of crime reduction initiatives but failed to deliver enough results.
As an immediate show of strength for this new community safety watch partnership, the Viseum outdoor surveillance camera is installed and instructed to automatically look out for and follow the majority of all goings-on in the whole area. Results from this initial stage are immediately apparent and evidence from the camera is soon used to free the community from the known repeat offenders.
Following this first period (typically no more than 4 months for the worst cases) the area is downgraded from a high crime environment, to a low crime area expecting only the typical random incidents that any public area may experience. The Viseum outdoor surveillance cameras then give new instructions to look out for incidents of this nature, and is given details of any local knowledge of the types of incident to expect at specific places and times of the day or week.
As this camera operates completely automatically it can be used with standard mobile phone communication services. This enables local authorities to work directly with their communities and respond immediately to a live incident or investigate a crime.
Residential Community Safety Watch Partnership
This is generally a passive security service which keeps privacy issues intact. It typically responds only to the camera’s reports of disorder in the area. Nobody ever watches the live or recorded video unless an incident is underway or a crime is being investigated, and even then only relevant recordings are automatically retrieved for authorized viewing.
BusinessCommunity Safety Watch Partnerships
This is a more proactive security service where a response is provided once the camera reports certain types of incident that it has been instructed to look out for. For example; potential or confirmed intruders, unauthorised vehicles entering and/or leaving the site, criminal damage to include graffiti and loitering and car surfing.
